Ezard to distribute deer harvest pins — The Jacksonville city clerk’s office, with approval from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, will again distribute deer harvest pins during the 2008 archery, youth, muzzleloader and firearm seasons. This year’s pin commemorate 30 years of the Deer Harvest Pin Program in Illinois. The IDNR historically distributed harvest pins only at check stations or through the mail. However, with the elimination of check stations, the department has made pins available through select vendors throughout the state. “Since the elimination of check stations, hunters from Jacksonville and the surrounding area have had trouble finding the harvest pins,” Jacksonville City Clerk Andy Ezard said. “By distributing the pins from my office, I saw a way to fill a need and provide a service to the community at no cost to city taxpayers.” Pins are free of charge and may be picked up at the city clerk’s office during normal business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Identification is not required. For more information, call Ezard at 479-4613.
