Comments 0 | Recommend 0Former Virginia coach to lead West Central
The Bluffs School Board made it official Wednesday night, hiring Don Flowers to be the head coach of the West Central football team.
Flowers will be a physical education and driver’s education teacher at Bluffs. He is taking the position vacated by West Central basketball coach Jeff Abell, who will work at Winchester next year.
Flowers’ hiring was approved by a 7-0 vote by the Bluffs School Board Wednesday. Winchester agreed to hire Flowers by the same vote in a board meeting Tuesday. As per the athletic co-operative agreement, both schools must approve the hiring of a coach.
Flowers, whose most recent coaching stop was at Decatur Eisenhower, has also coached at two local schools, Virginia/A-C Central and Pleasant Hill.
