Martin still hasn't turned in formal resignation

Former Routt girls’ basketball and softball coach Bruce Martin again declined to talk about his recent resignation Thursday.

Martin stepped down at the Routt School Board meeting last week but has yet to elaborate on the reasons for his resignation. He still has not turned in a formal, written resignation.

Martin coached both sports for four years at the school, and led the girls’ basketball team to a third-place finish at state in 2006-07.

Last week Routt School Board Vice President Rick Bystry said the board would be willing to rescind Martin’s resignation but didn’t say under what conditions. Last week Martin wouldn’t say if he was reconsidering.

On Thursday Bystry said no progress had been made in finding a replacement for the coach. The next board meeting is Oct. 15.

Girls’ basketball practice starts Oct. 29.
